Computer Vision Based Automatic Method for the Extraction of the Red Lesion Using Gabor Filter from Digital Fundus Image

Astha and Shubhi developed an automatic framework to detect red lesion pathologies from the Digital Fundus Image using image processing techniques. Extraction of the red lesion is an important step in the proper identification of the Diabetic Retinopathy which is a very serious disease causing permanent blindness to a huge number of diabetic patients across the world. This work can be deployed in real time situation and may be of great aid in primary health care centres for computer aided diagnosis of retinal pathologies.
The innovation work of the students of Center for Advanced Studies will be helpful in primary health care centres of India where there is a shortage of Ophthalmologist and will be useful for computer aided diagnosis.
